I am looking to hire multiple PhD students to join the COSMO (Cognitive Open-World Systems for MultimOdal Intelligence) Lab at NTU Singapore, the college of computing and data science (CCDS), starting in Spring or Fall 2026. To prospective Ph.D. students

If you are interested in pursuing a Ph.D. under my supervision, I typically expect applicants to have at least one first-authored paper at a top-tier conference in ML/AI/NLP, such as ICML, ICLR, NeurIPS, ICCV, ECCV, CVPR, EMNLP, ACL, or NAACL.

Applicants should also demonstrate a strong background in machine learning, deep learning, or related areas, and I am planning to recruit students who are interested in timely and impactful research in ML/NLP/multimodal AI, including World Models, Embodied AI, Open-ended Learning (Openendedness), Post-Training Techniques, Coding Agents, and Trustworthy AI, but not limited to these areas. To prospective interns

We also welcome applications from highly motivated undergraduate or master's students looking for research internship experience in a related field. The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills (e.g. Python, PyTorch), a solid background and research experience in ML/AI/CV/NLP.
